I’m tired of procrastinating. What do I do?

I’ve got a load of schoolwork to go through and just can’t get myself to start doing it. I feel very **anxious** that I’ll miss the deadlines or **fail** but still can’t do it.
And I also miss out on my social life because I have schoolwork. How do I break this cycle??

break em down real tiny! things feel overwhelming at times and it sucks when people tell you to just ‘do it’ when its not that easy.

have a to do list, then prioritize into a must do list – just what you need for the day. then, break each one down into the smallest steps possible and tick them off once youve done them. i find that success and accomplishment can be great motivators.

i also have a ‘start routine’ or something i do before i start working to get my head in order. i drink water, do some stretching and super light exercise. find what works for you, and do it every time before you work to kinda Pavlov yourself into work mode.

The first thing you should practice is stop thinking of homework like it’s a chore. You should WANT to do it not HAVE TO. Just focus on the fact that you’re doing it for your personal development/learning growth. This way it’ll turn from an obligation to something necessary to succeed.

Procrastination is something that happens because you think the task is too easy or too challenging so your brain just gets anxoius and refuses to do anything abt the task but worry abt it.there are many reasons but the most common one is fear of failure, feeling overwhelmed, perfectionism etc. i think in your case it is because you think the task is too challenging or feeling overwhelmed. Its very very important to find the root cause. It makes solving the problem so much easier

Suggestions : **1) Time box everything (i mean ALL the schoolwork)**

[https://www.spica.com/blog/timeboxing](https://www.spica.com/blog/timeboxing) —-> Timeboxing meaning explained here. put all your energy into doing the task for like 25-30 mins (no distractions whatsoever) then take a small break. if you want to.

**2) Have all your resources at hand**

Take ALL your schoolwork classify them into groups and rearrange everything, so that its accesible easily without looking for it and spending unnecessary time on it will give you a bit of mental clarity. (if you feel like your brain feels foggy then this will help [https://www.bangkokhospital.com/en/content/brain-fog-syndrome](https://www.bangkokhospital.com/en/content/brain-fog-syndrome) )

**3) Focus on the process not the end result**

when you want your end result to be perfect you focus too much on it and forget abt the process. its all abt what you do in the process that reflects in the end. with that said, how do you make the process more enjoyable?

    1) find what you like the most abt doing schoolwork

    2) find what you like most outside of schoolwork .

    now balance both of these.

**Additional tips:** meditate at least 5-10 mins a day.(again, for mental clarity). meditation can do so much without you even realising.

Spend at least 30-1hr or more a day. it gives you the endorphins needed for the day. and energises you to do schoolwork.

Reduce Screen time. it hinders everything.

Stop seeing it as a burden. more as a game or a fun thing to do.

keep affirming to yourself. Remember, the way you talk to your self reflects in your behaviour. now you might be telling yourself that the task is hard but unless your mindset changes nothing will change.

Dont start everything at once. start small then work your way up.

omg same. the best thing you can do though is break it down into stages and do just a little at a time. I like to draw little progress bars in a notebook and fill it in as I progress. and when ur done with each stage give yourself some credit or even like a little reward. it’s crazy how much more motivated you will get very fast

Honestly, I know this is not what you’re expecting to hear, but the best thing is to just get up and start doing. Whatever it is: studying, cleaning, working out, whatever. The more you stay still and think of how much you don’t want to do it, the more you’ll get sucked into that procrastination pit and won’t ever get out.
